Uckfield Vets have had many names over the years but have been excellent vets in East Sussex since the First World War! It all began with Mr Sewell, then Mr Turnbull during the Second World War, with the practice changing and evolving from there, becoming what it is today.
We are based in New Town, in Uckfield, a pretty but growing town in East Sussex. We have so many customers who bring their pets to us from all over the south east – of which we are very proud. People choose to travel that little bit further to come to our practice which we feel is a great attribute to how well we do what we do. Some will come from as far as Hastings, Eastbourne, Seaford and Brighton. Along with inland; Tunbridge Wells, Haywards Heath, East Grinstead and further.
The companion animal section of the practice has grown beyond all recognition since the Uckfield practice started in 1953. From dogs, cats and rabbits, through to our smaller family favourites, we treat them all! We have vaccination programmes for cats, dogs and rabbits, as well as microchipping where required. With nurse clinics running on a regular basis, for weight, nutrition, nail clipping, worming and grooming. Nurses are also able to remove stitches and perform post-operative checks.
House visits can be arranged where required. There are many cases when getting to the animal to the surgery is essential, but on occasion this is not possible and we are happy to come to you if necessary.
We have modern surgical facilities with digital X-ray and ultrasound imaging. We also hold clinics with outside specialists including a cardiologist and ultrasonographer. One of our resident vets, Donal O’Leary also specialises in acupuncture, which is regularly requested for many animals, as you can see from the image of Flynn below:
Our farm-focussed vets are proud to offer a modern, progressive yet personal service to our farm clients. We know that every farm is unique and every herd and flock has its own set of challenges. By getting to know you and your herd/flock individually, we always endeavour to provide a tailor-made service to help you reach your targets in the most cost-effective way.

This is a most interesting part of our practice and always a real opportunity to work with some different breeds. From chameleons to penguins, from tortoises to meerkats, we are always up for a wonderful challenge of taking care of zoo animals, rare breed animals as well as the more exotic of house pets.
