Bluetongue Virus: Update

Two additional cases of bluetongue virus (BTV3) have been confirmed in sheep near Norwich, Norfolk, and another infected sheep has been detected near Lowestoft, East Suffolk. In response to these new cases, the existing Temporary Control Zone (TCZ) has been expanded to cover more areas of Norfolk and East Suffolk. It is crucial for keepers of cattle, sheep, camelids, and other ruminants to stay alert and adhere to the restrictions on the movement of susceptible animals and germinal products within the zone.

To understand the specific measures in place and to help prevent and control the spread of the disease, please refer to the Bluetongue interactive map: Bluetongue Interactive Map and consult the latest guidance on GOV.UK. The detailed requirements are outlined in the declarations for each disease control zone currently in effect. Additional information is available on GOV.UK.
